Updated Hours from February 2022
From February our opening days will change, and some lunch time adjusting opportunities will be added.
25 Years as a Chiropractor
This week I have been reflecting and celebrating my 25 years of being a registered chiropractor. There’s a reason they call it being in practice; I am constantly gaining experience & wisdom and practising my skills, knowing that the learning never stops! I am very grateful to have found my calling at the tender age of 10 – though it took me until I was 23 to achieve my goal to graduate. Thousands of adjustments later I still have the passion to serve for many more years.
I am so appreciative of the communities I have served in Littlehampton, Mt Barker, Mt Gambier, and Goodwood since 1997 and recognise the trust you have placed in me with your health and your families wellbeing.
We're changing practice management software
Across the rest of January, we are upgrading our software to a new system. This may mean we need a few extra seconds while you’re paying and booking, so please be patient and we learn to navigate the new system.
You will also notice a change to the online booking page soon, but we hope that you will come to find it familiar and easy to use with time. If you do have any trouble, please don’t hesitate to call us and book in the old fashioned way!
Please be assured that your personal data will remain safe and secure and backed up, and none of your health data from The Chiropractic Domain or Lisa Scarfo will be affected.
Living with Community Transmission
Since the South Australian borders open and we are now all living with Covid spreading in the community, it has felt like a big shift in attitude, but there has not been a big shift in the public health advice, so we want to assure you that we will continue our Covid-Safe measures until advice changes.
This means that;
- masks are required for all patients over the age of 12 while inside The Chiropractic Domain (unless you have a medical exception)
- QR code check-ins are required upon arrival
- please continue to hand wash or sanitise
- Staff temperature checks are done frequently
- Dr Paula wears a respirator while you’re in the smaller office with her
- All staff wear masks at all times in the building
- Adjusting tables are cleaned between each patient
- Regular sanitising of shared areas, pens and equipment is still occurring.
If you are unwell and have been a close contact of someone with Covid, please do not attend the practice and contact SA Health for guidance on testing and quarantining.
If you are unwell, but have tested negative to Covid-19, and have advice from SA Health that you do not need to isolate, please give us a call to arrange your appointment to be moved to a quiet time of day, away from others who may otherwise be concerned.
We will continue to follow the SA Government advice as it is updated and are grateful to be able to support your health and wellbeing throughout this pandemic.
4 Tips to Avoid End of Year Overwhelm
I have recorded a short (6 minute) video with my top tips on avoiding the end of year crash that occurs when we are dealing with sustained stress.
New Product:
We have a new product line of bath salts with a relaxation blend and a rejuvenation blend. They're only $5.00 per packet and each packet is enough for 2 baths, so they're excellent value.

1 Minute Stretch for Students
This one minute stretch that can be done anywhere with a wall is a simple way to address a hunched over study posture. As well as the exercise that Dr Paula demonstrates in the video below, we are running two special offers through to the end of November 2022.
Celebrating Mums of The Chiropractic Domain
We see a lot of mums at The Chiropractic Domain and we often see them put their families first when it comes to wellbeing. In recognition to the mums of the clinic community, we are offering all mums $20.00 off their next appointment if they are already a registered patients with us.For mums who have not seen us before (or not for 3+ years) you can buy a voucher to have the first two chiropractic appointments with us for just $99 (normally $193 - a 50% saving!)Why for the first two appointments? The first visit is all about collecting mums health history, doing posture assessment, sEMG scans, x-rays (if indicated), neurological and orthopaedic testing. After all that, Dr Paula will write a detailed and personalised report of the findings and present it at the second visit - that's when mum can make an informed choice chiropractic. Treatment will be provided then as well.
Choose to Challenge
Happy International Women's Day! The theme this year is #ChooseToChallenge. I speak to you as a woman, somewhat disgusted by what we've been witnessing in the last couple of weeks in the media, and the treatment of the allegations that have been made through Canberra. Gender bias, demeaning women, sexual harassment, sexual assault. This is something that women still face on a daily basis, in all walks of life, and at all different levels of that particular spectrum. Enough is enough! There has got to be a change. All that aside for a moment, I hope that you get to spend it with some fabulous women in your life. Many of you are fabulous women in my life, and you make it a joy to do my job. So thank you.

To all the women who are members of my clinic community.
Happy International Women's Day!
The theme this year is #ChallengeToChange. I try and stay fairly apolitical within the clinic because I want to make sure that people from all walks of life feel safe. But on this day, I speak to you as a woman, as I feel maybe like many of you do, somewhat disgusted by what we've been witnessing in the last couple of weeks in the media, and the treatment of the allegations that have been made through Canberra. Gender bias, demeaning women, sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, these are all nasty words. This is something that women still face on a daily basis, in all walks of life, and at all different levels of that particular spectrum. Enough is enough! There has got to be a change.
With the theme of Choose to Challenge, I suppose the challenge for those of us who might feel at times unwilling to speak out, we need to find better language, to have better conversations, so that we can create cultural change with men and with women, but also with the young people that we are raising. I worry for my daughters and worry for my sons, I know that I have a job to do, in trying to teach them what gender equality really is. I'm sure that other parents may share a similar view. It takes work. It takes leadership and leadership at the highest level of our country, which at the moment, one would question what the direction is, are they responding politically? Are they responding as human beings with compassion? That's what I wonder about on this International Women's Day.
All that aside for a moment, I hope that you get to spend it with some fabulous women in your life. Many of you are fabulous women in my life, and you make it a joy to do my job. So thank you.
When you surround yourself with fabulous women, you feel this amazing network where you know you've got someone you can confide in, with safety and without judgement, that can help you get you through your daily challenge. That is something that is particularly unique about women. Generally, we can be pretty good communicators. I hope you have a lovely day.
Yours in Health,
Dr Paula

Video Transcript
Hello lovely clients,
I just wanted to give you a heads up; we're actually going to make room and get rid of our lovely healthy life demo bed. We need to make some changes and get a little bit more space here.
This particular product is one that I recommend and I've sent a number of you off to the stores to purchase one. This single ensemble is the healthy life classic mattress now if you went to buy it online you'd be looking at five and a half grand (just for the mattress) if I was to refer you to the store you'd be looking at a cost price of about two and a half grand, This has never been slept on it's just simply been in this clinic for people to look and try.
So if you're interested I'll be putting it out there for fifteen hundred dollars (for the mattress and the base). Please send us a message and let us know if you're interested.
Chiropractic Life Video Announcement
n the October long weekend there will be a change of management at the clinic and it will be taken over by a company called Chiropractic Life. Now, you may not have heard of them before but Chiropractic Life owns a number of regional based clinics across Australia and it is owned by a colleague of mine Dr Adam McKenzie who was a Casterton boy born and bred originally. You'll be pleased to know that Chiropractic Life has a very similar approach and ethos to what we and you have known at The Chiropractic Domain. Please indulge me while I'm reading my notes to help me through this:The most important thing I believe for you to know is that Dr Ashley will remain and she will be continuing under Chiropractic Life along with being supported by Dee and Sonia. For those of you who often see me, I will be continuing my next two rotations to Mt Gambier and finishing up in December. I expect that you'll only notice minor changes around the clinic obviously the business name and the logo will change and the branding but Dr Ashley and Dee and Sonia will be still providing their care and they as they always have. So really it will be business as usual or adjustments as usual. On a personal note; because it is a personal thing when you sell a business, I'd just like to share with you that when I bought Mt Gambier from Dr Neville Creed 13 years ago, I was full of energy and and the idea of course was to develop young associates and try and teach them the way that I had approached chiropractic career in my other clinics at that time. I was halfway through my pregnancy my first pregnancy; crazy yes I know, and over the years we've had lots of lovely associates come and serve and, there have been times when there's been gaps in that and I have needed to step in all amongst managing my own clinic at Goodwood and juggling what ended up being five children in the end. So now my family has grown and my older children are spreading their wings. Simone the eldest has recently gone to university to study chiropractic herself and so a while ago she stopped being my full-time clinic manager and we have missed her expertise and her assistance. also my three younger children are now at primary school very busy and my parents are in their 80s so recently when Adam approached me and asked me if I was interested in making a change I came to the conclusion that now was the right time of my life to do that.I am enormously proud of what I've developed in The Chiropractic Domain over the last 13 years and the various members of my team who've done that with me. I do remember thinking back in 2007 that with this project i wasn't sure how long i would be involved but I knew that I needed to be a steward. Now that building has housed a chiropractor clinic for over 50 years so there is a legacy there and the concept of being a student steward is to leave something better than the way you have found it. And I hope Neville would be proud that I have done that I'm also quite confident in handing the baton over to um Dr ash and Dee and Sonia that they will continue that legacy certainly under the watchful management and guidance of Dr Adam and his team at Chiropractic Life.I have had to record this a few times and I needed to use notes because I was getting emotional when I was recording it before and so yes I do feel some sadness at stepping away from the clinic happy sadness particularly from those of you i have looked after over the years I do plan to be still a part of the Mt Gambier community but in my personal life due to my husband's connection with family and friends down in the Mount.I do plan to have a farewell event when I finish to say goodbyes to some of you and I do have two more adjusting days being Thursday October 22nd and December the 3rd. I do want to thank you sincerely even those who don't know me for coming and supporting the clinic over the many years. I have done my best to ensure standards of genuine care for the clients that have come I really also appreciate you welcoming me into your life for those of you who do know me personally. It has indeed been an absolute privilege to know you and to care for you. I'm not going to say goodbye right now I'm just going to say see you later before i get too upset and thank you for your patience and thank you for listening to me tonight.
